Apollo Africa is a renewable energy supplier, specialising in the trading of electricity using a process called Wheeling over the national power grid. Supplying your business with cheaper, cleaner energy, helping you meet your ESG targets and pave the way to a more sustainable future.
Renewable energy is produced in wholesale quantities by a portfolio of solar and wind generators in high-yield locations ensuring maximum efficiency and output of green energy.
Each generator signs a
"Use of System Agreement"
with Eskom which governs its connection to the grid. Renewable energy is introduced into the grid directly at the point of production.
We blend our supply of green energy and create customer retail energy products especially suited for your business. At month's end, we notify the system operator to credit your electricity account with the energy we have allocated for you.
Your credit will appear on your regular electricity bill, covering the Peak, Standard, and Off-Peak energy we've allocated for you!
By opting for renewable power instead of fossil fuel-sourced power, corporations effectively reduce their Scope 2 emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol's carbon accounting standards. In today's business landscape, achieving a lower carbon footprint is no longer a mere "nice to have" but rather a business imperative to compete for offshore market share.

Corporate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) scores have gained paramount importance when it comes to business investor ratings. A Harvard Business Review study, which interviewed 70 senior executives at 43 global institutional investing firms, including major players such as BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street, revealed that ESG considerations were nearly universally prioritized in their decision-making process.
Wheeled renewables now offer lower prices compared to the Eskom Wholesale price, and their typical escalations are linked to inflationary increases. This results in controlled price increases for companies utilizing renewable power.
Don't delay to secure the energy future of your business.

Wheeling, also known as “Power Wheeling” or “Energy Wheeling” refers to the transportation of electricity from one location to another through transmission lines (the Grid) owned by Eskom. This means, for example, we can generate power in the Karoo and supply to a customer in Matjiesfontein. Wheeling is essentially a financial transaction whereby Eskom Electrons are swapped out with renewable energy electrons supplied by Apollo Africa through the use of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) represents a contractual arrangement between Apollo Africa and a business consumer. Under this agreement, the business commits to buying a specified quantity of electricity from a renewable energy generator, such as a solar or wind farm.
This PPA offers several advantages, including, the assurance of a consistent long-term supply of clean energy, contributing to meeting your Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets. And the ability to secure fixed electricity prices, shielding your business from the uncertainties of market fluctuations.
